Contemporary Glass
In 2008 I graduated with a ‘First’ class BA(Hons) degree in Contemporary Crafts from Coventry University. In my studio practice I balance my time between corporate and private markets. Over the last two years I have designed, created and installed two architectural glass installations for Volvo Group UK at their head offices in Warwick. Currently I am working on a three year art residency with Coventry University on a new piece of contemporary architecture and also on an ‘Artist Taking the Lead’ project called ‘Godiva Awakes’ for the Cultural Olympiad.
I design and create kiln formed glass art from concept to installation giving it a personal and handmade character. My work varies from small vessels to large panels of fused glass and each artwork is unique. Inspiration comes from my architectural photography research and architectural forms. My latest and award winning glass collections ‘A Fine Line’ are constructed of 1mm and 2mm glass rods to create geo-metric patterns and abstract imagery on the surface of the glass.
In 2010/11 I was selected to exhibit my artworks at a variety of different events on the Contemporary Craft calendar. These included the bctf, Made by Hand and Designer Crafts at the Mall. I have had an excellent response to my work and I will continue this year to apply for events to exhibit my new collections. Please have a look at my website for further information and examples of my artworks.
