Amber Stefani

My wealth of creativity is initially self-taught and is now complimented by my recent BA degree in textiles from Norwich University of the Arts.

The images I create are tantalizingly magical and full of energy. I get my inspiration from the natural world and geometric patterns; and also influenced by the work of stained glass windows.

During my degree, I began to use the techniques of screen-printing on many materials. I experimented with digital design printing which transformed my ability to work in 3d forms.

This provided me with the framework to construct these colourful beautiful and original table lamps.

The process begins with constructing moulds, and using my experience in drilling wood, I create detailed designs.

The initial process of my practice is spontaneous and impulsive with images worked directly onto a canvas or backdrop.

Add a laser cutter and resins that harden into a transparent solid, and I have all the ingredients needed to provide me with the flexibility and the skill base to create lighting installations and Large scale botanical paintings on canvas

I use reclaimed wood for the bases from walnut, ash, oak and birch so it's all ways a surprise on what I will discover.

When admiring the lamps at night, the iridescence really come to life in a constant change in colours, depending where you are viewing from, which makes it a delight to admire.

All my bulbs are LED’s 7W GU10 (low energy) warm white lasting 50,000 hours which are included.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 57 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
