  Selected Makers

Angela Anning

I use fine silks and a range of wools and threads to create one off, luxurious, wearable art such as scarves and jewellery.  I sell my work through York Open Studios (see links on my website for venue and dates) and for which I take local commissions.

I create wall art using combinations of wet and dry felting techniques, machine embroidery and paper lamination on silk. Some of these images are transferred onto linen and made into lampshades.

I draw on images taken from photos of travelling and from local landscapes, but I am then influenced by the qualities and characteristics of textile materials as I work.

My current work is inspired by the colours and textures of India and Greece.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 65 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
