Anna Louise Parker

Anna Louise Parker is a carver of stone and wood. She carves by hand, with hammer and chisel, and does not entertain the use of power tools in her studio. Her capability in design, drawing, modelling and carving has led to a wide range of commissions and projects involving historic ornament, portraiture, contemporary sculpture, public lettering, and private memorials.

Much of Anna’s work involves carved lettering, for which she has a particular flare and fondness, she will design and develop a unique letterform is to suit each new commission. Often Anna incorporates traditional paint techniques and gold leafing into her pieces.
Anna spent three years studying Stone and Wood Carving at The City & Guilds of London Art School, where she was awarded First Class Honours. She went on to take further tuition in letter carving from Richard Kindersley. Her work has been exhibited at The Riverside Gallery, Richmond and The Free Word Centre, London, and is on permanent display at Art Parks Sculpture Park, Guernsey.

The art of a craftsperson is apparent in all of Anna’s work: the skill the hand, eye and tool in complete harmony and coordination.

Anna is a member of Crafts Council, Memorials by Artists, Letter Exchange and Made by the Hands of Britain, her studio is situated in North London.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 57 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
