Sophia Kathalina is a fine arts and fashion textile graduate who specialised in design and make up and who has worked under several fashion houses in Birmingham and Leicester before setting up her own label "Boo (Peak & Brim) Hats" in 1990.
This unique company continually strives to design and create unique handmade headwear and accessories in unusual mixes of fabric, cut and design, they have a feel of uncompromising comfort mixed with the "wow" factor. They offer to the wearer a statement of originality as well as a stylish accessory to a more classic look.
Born in Birmingham but now living between England and France and gaining continuous inspiration from both places, "Boo" is undoubtedly one step ahead of anyone else, she has a flair for originality and an eye for the classic, creating styles that make this brand so sought after not only in the UK but also internationally.
Sophia Kathalina has been a designer and maker for l5 years and has supplied many shops, Department Stores, Galleries and Stately Homes as well as exhibiting her work at many major trade shows and design led gift/craft shows such as Country Living, Burley House, Hampton Court Flower Show, RHS Tatton Park etc...
Her knitted hats are created by a mixture of machine and hand knitting using fine yarns, which are manipulated during knitting to create surface, texture and form. Harmonies of colour are the starting point for her inspiration, and therefore throughout her work there is a definite reference to fashion and accessones.
