Brian Williamson

Brian Williamson's contemporary silver is designed to be lived with and enjoyed within the modern environment. One of Brian's principal objectives as a designer-maker is in achieving through simplification of form, a 'functional realism' that is not confined purely to the ornamental. Using function and problem solving as design parameters he creates via drawings and models a form that answers his aesthetic. He has continued to develop hard edge designs softened with specialized surface embellishments - the natural skin of an orange best describes a current textural finish called 'Orange' which is achieved using hammer chasing. All of Brian's silverware is handmade to the highest standard and reflects his interest in designing and making contemporary one of pieces with a crisp
attitude.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 126 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
