Claire works with kiln-formed glass using colour and form to create the desired response to her work. She creates contemporary wall pieces, homeware, jewellery and other decorative works and using her own palette of colour, produces a range of tones that make each piece completely unique.
Claire graduated from North Wales School of Art and Design with a 2:1 BA Hons in Applied Art in 2008. Since then she has exhibited in galleries and exhibitions around the UK and exhibited in the USA where she was a finalist in the Bullseye Glass Competition ‘Emerge’ in Portland Oregon in 2008.
Claire works with Bullseye glass and fuses or open casts the glass to create the form. She then cold works the piece using a diamond wheel and slumps the work on either ceramic moulds or stainless steel formers which she has made to her own specification.
Claire’s influences are in abstract art specifically the work of Kandinsky, Matisse, Picasso and Mondrian. ‘I have always been interested in colour and its effect on the individual. I find working with glass inspires me; for me it is the perfect medium to reflect and transmit light within a space’.
