  Selected Makers

Clare Lindley

My work as a papercut artist has developed over the last year. I am concentrating much more on the natural environment as a source of inspiration, as a consequence colour has become a much more important component, it fills just about every picture I make now.
2015 saw my first work with writer Irene Lofthouse to illustrate her books and we are developing new stories based on characters created by me at the moment, a picture book should be available in 2016.

The way I create my art has changed little, a scalpel and pencil are my only tools, paper my only material, although the addition of so much colour means more mess and more concentration on what will look right where. My foray into developing "characters" has meant taking a step in a slightly different direction, you may spot a Robot and his Ghost Bunny friend hanging out under the trees!

I now work quite regularly with another artist and we organize our own exhibitions in galleries and less obvious venues, which has been quite a learning curve.

I will always consider commissioned work.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 127 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
