  Selected Makers

Daniel Wilds

Daniel Wilds is a contemporary designer Goldsmith who frequently produces work in silver, palladium, gold and platinum and has been a designer/maker for over 14 years, having graduated from the Kent Institute of Art & Design in Rochester. Daniel has since worked for several independent jewellers dotted around his home county of Kent.

Daniel uses the most up to date technology combined with traditional skills, to create jewellery that has an historical, yet modern quality. His designs are characterized by fine, often hidden engraving detail “the more you look, the more you discover”. This detail frequently with floral or mythical depictions, is then set alongside beautiful gemstones selected purely for their unusual qualities, often with inclusions and imperfections which he feels adds to their intrinsic beauty.

Commissions
Daniel works from his well equipped studio/workshop located in his home county of Kent, where he warmly welcomes any opportunity to work to commission. Daniel firstly draws upon his fine art background to produce exquisitely detailed scale water-colour paintings, which he then uses as a string-board to produce your very own customised design.

Re-modelling
“More than ever I’m producing work incorporating precious metal and gemstones from the clients themselves, whether you have inherited pieces, unwanted gold or just require a modern twist on an already existing piece. From the clients point-of-view you all ready have the basic building blocks. Saving you a lot of expense, and allowing me to produce a fresh new piece for a fraction of the cost”.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 62 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
