Fleur de Lys Glass
I was born and raised in Alsace-Lorraine. After pursuing a successful career in Social Work and Education in France and Scotland, I decided to further explore and develop my creative talents in art, crafts and photography.
Always fascinated by the vibrancy of stained glass windows, I decided to formally pursue the study of this art form. In Scotland, I studied traditional stained glass as well as warm glass techniques, graduating with a Higher National Diploma in Art Glass Production from North Glasgow College. I was awarded the College Prize in the first year and the Course Prize in the subsequent years of my studies. Upon graduation, I received the Ede and Ravenscroft Prize for "outstanding academic achievement and…best overall student in the Faculty of Creative and Applied Arts.”
Glass is a powerful medium for expression. I take my inspiration from diverse sources including: the natural world; ancient and modern cultures; and the diverse art movements of the 19th and 20th centuries. I find working with abstract forms captivating; it is possible to create very different pieces of work by changing and experimenting with colour.
In my studio, I create stained glass panels and light-catchers using traditional glass techniques, and combine them with painted, sandblasted and fused elements. I also design and make original, contemporary, fused glass jewellery, along with larger pieces of fused glass work such as platters and bowls.
