Contemporary Designed Blown & Cast Glass
Elin enjoys working fast, fluid and hot during the glass blowing process. She pulls stretches and drops the glass swiftly to form her delicate, simple forms in stunning colors. She produces very tactile pieces often with some element of movement within the finished pieces to connect the production energy with her viewer.
Her inspiration comes from the play of light, texture and movement in nature. The objects do not necessarily represent a descriptive picture of nature, but through the elastic, tactile abstraction it represents.
Elin creates bespoke, handcrafted sculptural, lighting and architectural glass for individual and corporate clients by commission and she also sells sculptural glass through galleries and shops around the UK. Some previous clients are Edinburgh University, National Museum of Scotland, NHS and cruise liners.
Elin is originally from Sweden. She discovered her passion for blown glass during her studies at Orrefors Glass School, Sweden in 1998.
She completed both her BA (Hons) and her Masters in Glass and Architectural Glass Design at Edinburgh College of Art in 2005/06. During this time she also worked with Lindean Mills Glass, Galashiels and was also taught by Masters Dante Marioni and Simon Moore at Northlands Creative Glass Centre, Lybster.
Elin first set up her business in 2006, she went full time in 2009 and is now establishing her own glass blowing studio in Alloa with funding from the Scottish Arts Council and Clackmannanshire Council.
