Emma-Kate Francis

Designer Silversmith
After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2002, with an MA Silversmithing, Emma-Kate established her career in London, basing herself in the hub of Clerkenwell. In 2008, she opened her beautiful gallery and workshop, just off the Kings Road in Pontcanna, Cardiff. She creates unique, handmade pieces using silver, gold, platinum, diamonds, semi-precious stones and pearls. Emma-Kate prides herself on transforming her customers ideas into reality, "Part of the fun of getting something made is that you can boast about it!"

Emma-Kate has travelled throughout her life and one of her biggest influence stems from being brought up by the sea, in Brighton and the West Indies. In particular, it is the linear qualities of waves which transpire through her fluid forged pieces. Whilst studying in Germany, during her degree, she learnt silversmithing and the classic Bauhaus style of clean, bold designs emerged through her work. Inspirations from the Art Nouveau era, in particular that of Archibald Knox, and the sinuous Celtic designs have struck a chord since moving down to Wales.  And, in 2009, she won an award to design a pewter range for the Victoria & Albert Museum and Liberty’s of London.
