Fine Jewellery
Every piece tells a story…..
Inspired by nature, Erica's work is suffused with light and meaning. If it's a commission, the wearer, or the giver and wearer might only know the meaning. She tries to capture the essence of a particular time, place, or feeling. Working in this way gives each piece a timelessness that you can't buy off the shelf and significance beyond its material value.
Erica Sharpe has been a jeweller since 1986 and combines exceptional craftsmanship with a delight in the qualities of her favourite materials of gold, platinum and gemstones.
In a lifetime's quest for technical perfection, she has studied with an Indian master goldsmith, acquired skills in ancient Etruscan techniques, and worked with some of the leading figures of modern jewellery.
The Swan Collection
Inspired by the beautiful bird that graces the Somerset Levels and the moat around the Bishop's Palace in Wells where Erica had her first studio. Swans are know to pair for life which makes this a particularly romantic gift wherever you are from.
The Reflection Collection
Arose from Erica's fascination with the play of light in gemstones. The pieces are created to magnify this light displaying an almost dazzling effect when viewed from certain angles.
The Wedmore Ring
In 1989, a finely-wrought copper Saxon ring was unearthed in the village of Wedmore, Somerset. The ring's origins are a mystery: although Wedmore was a site of special significance to King Alfred, no other item of Saxon jewellery has ever been found there. All we know is that it was the custom for Saxon Kings to reward their most beloved companions with such a ring.
In the same village, over a thousand years later, Erica is recreating the ring in her gallery/workshop in the same way as the original using two pieces of gold, silver or platinum wire.
