Felix is a designer of individual handmade jewellery.
Working in precious metals and bronze she sometimes includes found objects such as fine woods, feathers or bone and often uses reticulation (a technique involving controlled melting of the metal) to achieve interesting surface textures.
Most of her pieces are “one off” or variations on a theme and her designs range from purely abstract to interpretations of her natural surroundings, while her flights of fancy can lead - well anywhere!
After training in Zimbabwe and Germany, in 1971 she set up her studio workshop in Cornwall, England where she was a member of the Cornwall Crafts Association and Devon Guild of Craftsmen.
Moving to Ireland in 1995 Felix now works from her studio/showroom close to the River Blackwater in Knockanore, Co. Waterford.
Her work has been shown widely in Britain and Ireland and she has had work selected for the Crafts Council best new products “Index” at Showcase Ireland in 2005 and 2006 and was category winner (gold, silver and alternative materials) in the RDS National Craft Competition 2006.
