  Selected Makers

Glynn Sheppard

From the seclusion of the studio he built in Suffolk in 1994 Glynn designs and makes a range of interior accessories in wood for exhibition, to commission and for the retail trade.  This work is produced to the highest quality of design, construction and finish and includes mirrors, boxes, clocks, bud vases and night light holders using varying combinations of hardwoods, burr woods and veneers.  Influences on his designs range from images of the English landscape to architectural and geometrical features.  Though contemporary in nature, all Glynn's work is produced through a very structured and 'traditional craftsman' method of working.  Work is cut and machined to size before it is individually hand shaped and finished with oil and wax to produce its beautiful and hard wearing lustre.

In 2001 Glynn's work was selected for the CELEBRATING BOXES exhibition which included entries from craftsmen from around the world.  This travelling exhibition lasted for two years and details can be seen in the book of the same name.  This year (2004) his work has been included in the book 400 Boxes.

Glynn is a member of the Suffolk Craft Society.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 6 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
