I design and make contemporary commissions using a combination of traditional green woodworking and cabinetmaking techniques. I work in a woodland camp where I teach green woodworking and art and craft courses to our guests. In between courses I take on varied commissions exploring a contemporary aproach to using green (unseasoned) wood using traditional hand skills such as cleaving to maximise the strength of the timber and steam bending.
I try to use the appropriate technique and species to work with the nature of the material and personally source all materials locally.
I trained at the John Makepeace school for Craftsmen in wood - Parnham House and the Royal College of Art before running a contemporary furniture workshop in London for 15 years with 15 cabinetmakers undertaking commissions for Walt Disney, HRH The Earl of Wessex and the Laban centre Bendywood handrail installation.
