Haley Haddow

Haley grew up in London, UK, surrounded by fashion, music, art and culture. Exposure to this eclectic mix provided her with a creative platform to explore using the dynamics of design, color and line within the world of kiln-formed glass.

After living abroad where she first started creating glassware, in November 2013 Haley re-located her glass studio to West London.

She is an artist and designer who creates innovative contemporary kiln-formed art for galleries and private commissions.  Her work is an exploration of strong geometric influence in the form of sharp simplistic lines, married with bespoke engraved intricate graphic patterns, using a variety of specialized techniques.

Haley uses only Bullseye glass in her work, for its vibrant colours and outstanding quality. Unique handmade art-works are created using an array of materials. Sheet glass, stringers, frit, and glass powder are used as the basis for producing vessels, platters, vases and wall panels.

Through using and multi-layering transparent and opaque glass, each piece of work is fired in a kiln several times, to create a myriad of intense colour blends, before being slumped (shaped) into bespoke molds.

The result is a body of work that is a modern variation of the traditional idea of functional and non-functional glasswork, produced with the intention of inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface.

Haley is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and has works held in private collections in Canada, Australia, USA, India, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, U.A.E and Oman.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 57 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
