Henry Gray is a respected stone carver with adept command of his media.
Coming from a creative family background his innate artistic drive has found full expression in stone carving, a craft to which he brings natural flare and increasing fluency.
Henry has always recognised his ability to see form and translate that into artefacts. This helps him to describe in his carving the human experiences, common to us all, such as hope, faith and especially the ambiguities of life.
Henry trained at Weymouth College. After qualifying he was assigned to the restoration programme at Salisbury Cathedral, during which time he was involved in working on the West Front, manufacturing gothic architectural masonry and carving.
Since 2000 he has been established as a freelance stone carver and sculptor, co-operating on large projects and taking on private commissions. His current work encompasses architectural masonry, memorials and carving.
