Hey Joe

Jo King was born Reading, Berkshire. She studied BA Honours Three Dimensional Design at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design from 1999 to 2002. She won the Precious Metal Bursary 2001 from The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and was awarded an Arts Council Setting Up Bursary in 2003. Jo took part in New Designers 2002 at the Business Design Centre, Islington. More recently Jo exhibited at the British Craft Trade fair in Harrogate and at New Designers: One Year On in July 2004.

Jo creates containers and utensils, simple yet with an effortless beauty. Inspired by Japanese culture and today's throwaway consumerism, she playfully combines materials such as wood, paper and plastics with silver to appeal to a young, modern audience.
