I have run my own business for the last six years and have worked as an Architectural Woodcarver for over twelve, having previously worked at the renowned Dick Reid Carving Workshop where I served my apprenticeship. Previous to joining Dick Reid, I worked for many years as an artist in London.
I work closely with architects, joiners and designers making and restoring carved and shaped furniture and architectural features and details. I have done work for many historic buildings such as Newby Hall, Ripon Cathedral and St-Mary-at-Hill, London.
In tandem with this traditional restoration work I also work in contemporary fields. Recent clients include the Tate Modern and the History channel on television. I am a graduate of the Royal College of Art and have taught sculpture at York College.
I take my inspiration from the world around me, particularly the natural elements. With my unique background combining the traditional and the modern I take inspiration from the natural and man-made world and like to play with and subvert visual assumptions and preconceptions.
I enjoy working closely with clients so that I am able to bring their ideas and design briefs to life. I am happy to discuss any design projects and private commissions.
