Isabella Whitworth trained as a graphic designer and illustrator before "discovering" textiles. She now works mostly on silk, using steam-set acid dyes and resist techniques which vary from "classic" gutta silk-painting through to work with wax. Her work is based on the observation and drawing of her everyday surroundings - from the way water moves in local streams to the cracked tiles in a seedy Paris bathroom!
Isabella makes signed scarves and shawls in various types and weights of silk. Normally, all work is hand washable. It can also be dry-cleaned. Her work is sold in galleries throughout the UK and has been exhibited internationally. She is an experienced tutor and lecturer.
