After studying embroidery at City and Guilds level Jackie returned to full-time education as a mature student, completing a two year General Art and Design course in York before acquiring her Textile Art degree at Norwich School of Art and Design. She also acquired a City and Guilds teachers certificate at City College in Norwich.
While continuing to develop her textile work for sale, commission and exhibition Jackie has been involved with a variety of community projects, textile workshops and courses.
My textile work is varied, ranging from large wall and framed pieces produced on a commission basis and for specific exhibitions, to cushions, purses, bags and greetings cards, which are sold in art and craft galleries around the country.
I incorporate feltmaking, hand and machine stitching, fabrics and sometimes handmade papers within the work and use a variety of techniques depending on each piece.
Ancient architecture and universal symbols within decoration and construction, combined with the natural erosion of building materials are the inspirations for this work.
