Cream Loco by Jacqueline Harold

Jacqueline Harold is a designer/maker of tableware.
Using silver, gold, wood, resin, acrylic and ceramic and combining these materials with automata is what makes her work unique.

"My work includes Loco- Commotion; a table train of automated condiment holders which run along a resin and silver track.  Inspired by the movement of plants during growth, each design holds it's own character and includes simple automated elements, which encourages the diner to 'play'. Each piece moves along a silver and resin track on its own set of miniature wheels. The quirky table train can hold a variety of condiments including salt, pepper, oil, sauces, sugar and cream. I often add a proverb sometimes relating to the  contents of the vessel, hopefully engaging the user in thought.

Loco-commotion is made from 925 silver sheet.  Press forming one  half of the pot in a hand made die, then turning the die over and press forming the other half, cutting off the flange and soldering the two halves togethe, gives you the body of the pot.  The thread is then made using a tap and die for the hole and stopper (to fill the salt and pepper).  The wheels are formed using a doming block, the axles are soldered to the wheels and a cam is fixed to the axle. The wheels are' fixed' in order to mover the cam inside the pot. A tube is soldered inside the pot and a wire is threaded through the tube.  The legs attached to  the wheels are carefully soldered in place. With a bit of luck and a following wind and the automation (after a little tweaking) should work."
