My work consists of many elements which I developed while studying for my degree in theatre Design at Central Saint Martins. These may be freestanding figures – up to life size – mirror frames or wall mounted creatures.
I produce characters, animals and people, full of humour and fun, quirky and amusing very often to commission. I alter scale, using colour and pattern and play with words and phrases. Illustration also plays an important part in my work.
I start each new piece with an idea or image from a magazine, from a book or photograph of an owner's pet animal. These I redraw to work out posture, support and their ability to sit or stand.
Made with a papier-mache and multimedia technique I am largely inspired by my love for animals, especially dogs. I have produced all breeds, alive or even no longer with us.
Children's book illustration and teaching are other aspects of my work. I sell in galleries and shops throughout the country and private commissions are frequent and very welcome.
