Jenny Arnott

After studying printed textiles at Winchester School of Art, Jenny has continued to develop her love of working with fabric, creating beautiful but functional products such as bags and cushions, as well as tiny embroidered buttons. In addition to the textile pieces, her designs have also been turned into a range of printed products, including canvases, prints and greetings cards.

The materials used in her work predominately come from the large stash of fabrics she has collected over the years, with many cherished scraps being re-cycled into her designs. Textile items usually start with a plain coloured base fabric, with splashes of pattern and texture added using small ditsy florals, colourful ginghams, stripes and spots.

The look is endearingly charming with cute cupcakes and pretty flowers adorning her handmade bags and cushions, with each design being ‘drawn’ with the sewing machine. This combination of freehand machine embroidery and appliqué used to layer and stitch fabrics together, ensures that each piece has a truly bespoke feel. The printed range is altogether more pictorial, with scenes depicted through illustrative fabric collages, which are then digitally printed as canvases, prints and cards.

Jenny’s work is avaliable to purchase through her online store, as well as other selected websites.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 127 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
