Jenny Pearce

Linen basket

I am a willow basketmaker, originally from Dublin, now based in rural Herefordshire, England. My work is based on Celtic and English regional techniques creating both traditional and contemporary baskets, working to commission and exhibiting in galleries and craft fairs throughout Southern England. If you would like to see some samples of my work, please visit the gallery. I also run regular workshops for both beginners and those developing their basketry skills.

I exhibit with the Worcester Guild of Designer Craftsmen and with Artistree in Ledbury (a gallery organised by local artists and craftsworkers). I am also a member of The Basketmakers Association and the Irish Basketmakers Association. Most of my willow is sourced in Somerset but I also grow a small amount of my own - currently having thirteen different varieties. I make my baskets with unstripped willow, favouring the natural texture and variety of colour in the bark.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 57 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
