Jo Hill

It is a joy for me to be able to spend each day in my cosy studio bringing sumptuous fabrics and delicate threads to life. I have spent the last few years developing the Jo Hill range of textile designs, creating detailed embroidery work that I am passionate about and is exclusively hand made by me.

My luxury textile pieces are inspired by the beautiful British countryside, in particular its diverse range of birds and wildlife that is so often hiding in amongst the grasses and the trees. The colour palette of my signature style echoes the magnificent range of colours found in nature, and fine, detailed stitching allows me to really explore the wonderful year-round details that the countryside displays.

My original embroideries form a unique range of chairs, cushions, wall hangings and lampshades which are all designed to complement each other and are full of my creative energy and vision. These contemporary tactile pieces will inspire love and warmth in any home.

Techniques include appliqué, hand and machine stitching as well as fabric dyeing to achieve the perfect natural colour.

As well as creating individual embroideries, an exclusive range of Jo Hill printed homewares based on my original pieces will soon be available. And if you would like to have a go at creating your own, I run a series of workshops throughout the year on free-motion embroidery, cushion making and lampshade making.

I am proud to say that all of my original textiles are handmade by me in Great Britain with love, joy and lots of passion!

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 2 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
