For most of the last seven years I have worked predominately in wire having been inspired by Alexander Calder on my Foundation Course in Manchester.
My wire enthusiasm has stayed with me throughout my degree in Newcastle and beyond.
My work over the last year has incorporated the use of aluminium sheets as a way of filling the holes in my wire pieces!
It has since taken over and a series of shop fronts materialised from memories of markets and a desire for good food!
The wire forms I made were mostly fish and insects either in a circus setting or in boxed frames reminiscent of Victorian entomology.
The only tools I use are long nose pliers and everything is simply knotted or rolled.
The metal work is cut out of a sheet of metal using a template and then folded and glued together to make boxes or theatre stages. The characters are based on imaginary people and painted using enamel paints.
My recent work over the last few months has been inspired by burlesque shows and circus.
I have exhibited throughout the U.K. and have been part of the Open House projects for the last five years in Oxford and Brighton where I currently live.
