Kate Wimbush

Brolly Brooch by Kate Wimbush

After gaining a degree in Design: Craft in 2005, Kate specialised in creating original and exciting jewellery combining silver and resin. She has developed a unique method of using modern digital processes with  traditional hand crafting techniques to produce her illustrative designs, which are then polished, oxidised or highlighted with brightly coloured resin.

Kate has participated in a number of exhibitions nationwide and worked for independent designer makers alongside creating her own jewellery. More recently, relocation to Manchester provided Kate with a creative respite and she is now working on a new range of silver and gold collections, utilising her unique design methods and introducing colour through resin and semi-precious stones.

Based in a workshop in the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, Kate’s creations continue to reflect her love of all things miniature, the exactness and precision required providing Kate with the stimulating challenge she enjoys. Her inspiration is found in many things, but especially through her life long love of ‘The Great British Seaside’ and Nature; in fact her latest bird collection is the result of being introduced to the Bird world at a very early age by her father, a keen Ornithologist!
