Linda is a mixed media designer/maker. She graduated in 2007 with a First Class degree in Mixed Media Textiles.
Linda creates unique keepsake boxes by layering luxurious fabrics and papers with intricate embroidery, combining texture and detail through heat manipulation, print and delicate cutwork by hand.
She is inspired by the threadbare qualities of the natural and man made; flowers and lettering; and especially by her own family history. Linda is passionate about manipulating fabrics and papers, continuously experimenting, exploiting imperfect qualities such as fraying, and exploring material combinations. Her work is lively and expressive, sensitive and delicate. She endeavours to ensure each box is intricate, desirable and skilfully handmade using quality materials.
Linda keeps part of the fascinating techniques secret, ensuring each box is individually crafted as an indulgent gift, an interior decoration or to treasure keepsakes and memories. She also handcrafts brooches and greetings cards.
The innovative techniques and highly original designs have already won Linda the coveted Embroiderers’ Guild £1000 Scholarship Award 2008/09 and earned her selection for One Year On at New Designers ‘08 and Designer Crafts at the Mall Galleries, London ‘09. She exhibited in a showcase at The Knitting and Stitching Shows in 2007 and 2008, and has most recently been invited as a showcased artist at the V&A shop, for spring/summer ‘09.
Linda works from a professional home studio, and also teaches box making workshops, and works as a part time lecturer at Demonfort University.
