LoCo Glass

Droplet Bottles by LoCo Glass

LoCo Glass is a vibrant Studio Glass partnership formed by Louise and Colin Hawkins in 1998. The unique qualities of glass as a medium and the many elements of its specialised production provide the inspiration for their distinctive and contemporary collections of freeblown glassware.

Louise's relevant study began at Winchester School of Art, where she obtained a foundation diploma in Art. She then went on to study Design at Goldsmiths College UOL, following which she was offered a place at The International Glass Centre in the West Midlands, to train as a glassmaker.

Colin studied glass at Sunderland University for three years. He then continued his training at The Royal College of Art where he studied for his MA in Glass; during this time he came into contact with, and learnt from, some of the countries most prestigious glass makers and designers.
Louise and Colin were the 1999 holders of the scholarship studio at The Broadfield House Glass Museum, and in January 2000 they went on to set up their own studio at The Brewery Arts Centre in Cirencester where visitors can view the glass being made.

LoCo Glass has a fresh and innovative approach to glassmaking. "…We aim to make work that is forward thinking, exciting glass for the modern interior with an emphasis on creative design and skilled craftsmanship…"
Each piece is hand blown and made in their characteristic style, using a variety of both traditional and modern techniques.
