  Selected Makers

Louise Parry

Combining skills from my training as a jeweller and silversmith with a passion for clocks, I have developed a unique range of timepieces. Hammered, textured forms are cut and inset with gemstones, producing a crisp elegant feel to my work. I am constantly exploring new shapes in my pieces while maintaining a strong, contemporary identity.

Recent trips to New Zealand have inspired new work based upon the many classic cars that I sketch whilst there.

The precision required for horology is achieved by combining silversmithing with traditional lathe work and modern CNC machining. I have recently collaborated with a British company to make fine jewelled mechanical movements for my clocks, with each piece having a viewing window incorporated within its design.

I specialize in working with clients to commission, often finding that these commissioned pieces subtly influence the development of further works in my own collections.

My primary objective is to develop my craft and build the brand through the creation of individual pieces that inspire newly commissioned works. These commissions in turn inspire further pieces, prompting the exploration of new objects and forms.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 127 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
