Lynne Henderson

Lynne Henderson’s passion for felt textiles began when she became absorbed by the colours, textures and versatility of the medium.

Inspired by the coast where she lives, Lynne’s frequent beach walking brings new designs and endless possibilities to pursue.

Lynne specialises in wall art consisting of framed pieces and hangings.  Her accessories include cushions, bags, covered books, 3D beach huts, cards, bowls, scarves and brooches.  Each piece is created using both the wet and dry felt making method.  Lynne enjoys innovation and design and likes to explore and experiment with materials.  The wall art and accessories incorporate a variety of fibres such as various wools, silk and cocoon strippings, which are then embellished and hand sewn with embroidery and beads.  This is time consuming but something Lynne finds enjoyable and rewarding.  Where possible Lynne tries to work with reclaimed materials and experiences great satisfaction in developing techniques that extend the life of redundant textiles.

Her love of colour and texture is given a free reign with endless exciting possibilities.  There are no limits to the ways and means of working with felt and there is always something new to discover.

After gaining a grade A O’level  in Art at Bridlington School Lynne went on to study for a B/TEC Diploma in Art and Design at East Yorkshire College in 1991.  In 2006 Lynne completed a NCEF course in Creative Crafts and has since exhibited and sold works at Sewerby Hall, Bridlington Arts Festival and Beverley Treasure House Art Gallery.  Lynne continues to study with the Creative Textile Academy to further her knowledge of felt making.

Lynne has lived in Bridlington for 30 years and lives with her husband and young daughter.
