Mark Ripley

Mark Ripley trained in 3 Dimensional Design at Leicester Polytechnic, specialising in furniture. He has run his own workshops for 25 years and has been full time since 1990. His current workshop is in Bramley, Hampshire.

Early inspiration came from English and Scandinavian vernacular woodwork, particularly boats and buildings. He was also inspired by the philosophy, design and craftsmanship of the Shakers.

On setting up his own workshops he was keen to explore and develop traditional approaches from which his own distinctive interpretation has evolved. Temperate soild wood is used both for its appropriateness and the relative ease with which sustainable management can be assured.
