Martin uses wood selected from the UK (including some exciting finds amongst windfalls) and exotic woods from overseas to create his main collection of large and small bowls and unusual platters, but also produces wooden and acrylic pens.
Martin also produces a range of "Genie Goblets" and uses different materials including silver and other metals to enhance his work. Hand carving also features in some of Martin's work to take the design into another dimension without the restrictions of the lathe.
Martin pays particular attention to the surface finish to achieve a beautiful and tactile result. He also believes in striving to attain the highest of standards in his workmanship, which is a principle that originates from his previous career as an aircraft engineer.
The popularity of this Oxfordshire based woodturner is a testament to his efforts to produce high quality woodturned items that are made with the intention to be treasured.
The fascination of delicate grain enhanced by carefully applied finishes, and bold experiments with form, have inspired this particular designer-maker to produce a broad portfolio which would suit a diverse range of tastes.
