Mary Howard-George trading as A Drop of the Ocean
I graduated as a studio potter from the Kent Institute of Art and Design and with my husband fulfilled my dream and setup, “A drop of the ocean” studio, at the end of our garden.
I had been developing my ideas over several years and the aim was to provide an environment where I would be able to work on my range of porcelain domestic ware.

My work is inspired by my love of the sea, or more specifically the sea shore. Inspiration comes from hours spent beachcombing, collecting stones and shells and enjoying the perfect arrangement of objects left by the tide.
Attention to detail is very important to me, the twist of a handle, sprigged shells, a turned foot ring, the homely glow translucency brings.

All my work is hand made from porcelain thrown on the wheel. The sea themed sprigs are individually made, making each piece unique.

I am also able to produce customised sprigs and decals for individual groups or organisations.
