Mary Thorpe

An innovative transformation of hand painted silk into a laminated material. This process has been developed and patented over the past few years and has an amazing potential to be used around the home and beyond.
Vibrant in colour, but with an underlying texture, the surface glows and reflects light giving a feeling of movement to the viewer. It has life of its own.
At present it is made into unusually shaped clocks, reversible jewellery, sparkling tablemats and coasters, paintings, and mobiles for the garden or conservatory. Truly original gifts for any occasion.
We have also developed its use as an inlay into contemporary furniture, and
the results are unique and very exciting. We accept commissions and actively encourage customers' ideas to make stunning original pieces. This concept is so versatile that the imagination can go wild. Each design is a first and can be pictorial or abstract colour, in any hue desired??.the choice is yours.
Our most recent project is to use this idea in place of tiles in a shower?
This work really needs to be seen in person, as a camera cannot capture the reflective nature of the material!
