Journeyman Furniture

After training and qualifying as a furniture designer/maker and years of making furniture for employers firms, I established Journeyman Furniture because I wanted to make my own designs for my own clients. I moved back to Cornwall with the intention to make fine contemporary furniture to commission.
I now design and make fine contemporary furniture and interiors to commission and have been doing so for several years now. Usually working on my own but occasionally employing a small team of craftsmen when required, generally for larger interior projects. My clients are varied and include architects, designers and individuals.

The furniture that I design and make does not follow any particular approach, but I would like to think my own style shines through and compliments my clients ideas on each project. I aim to fuse art, craft and design into something which I hope will eventually be loved more than when it was first delivered and for future generations.

I am passionate about the wood that is used in my designs and aim to use as much local English hardwood as I can. I try to get the most out of the grain, patterns and texture of the timber. Whilst paying close attention to the overall form and usefulness of the piece. I try to keep the design simple but elegant, with little fuss and try to be as objective as possible when designing for a client. So that the end product reflects the clients own tastes and input, and it is from the initial brief that the project will start to take shape.
