I am engaged in creating ceramic forms that can be used as vases and vessels, or simply appreciated for the visual and tactile qualities they offer. I am hugely inspired by the making process and my physical responses to it, and the actions involved in the making of art.
I explore ways to create work out of parts of the making process that normally go disregarded. My most recent body of work explores the process of turning, making it into an integral part of the decorative quality of the piece.
All my work is made on the wheel using porcelain which I then finish using slips and glazes. I aim to create works that are strongly visually engaging, creating contrasts between the interior and exterior of the form. These contrasts occasionally challenge our visual perception of the object and encourage us to respond to it physically as well as visually.
