  Selected Makers

I offer a design service creating bespoke embroidered furnishing fabrics made in Britain. I have a unique approach to the designing of furnishing fabrics, where I combine my experience of printed textiles with my expert skills in embroidery, I create designs for the individual shape of each product. This is highlighted by the interesting placement of images emphasising that they are not repeated like a printed furnishing fabric. These pieces look at my reaction against printed textiles, which I studied. Pattern is fundamental to my designs, but I look at mixing it and its placement, rather than just creating a repetitive pattern. I create designs using a fusion of traditional and modern techniques, combining hand stitches with digital embroidery techniques. I work closely with each client to interpret a design to compliment an existing or proposed interior scheme. Each design can have as much or as little embellishment as required. This allows every order to be bespoke, its layout, scale, colour combination and design are all worked out with the client, with the finished piece being exclusive to them. I love responding towards a room setting and creating a piece exclusively for that environment. I work on a range of fabrics including British made wool, leather, silk and linen, along with fabrics specified by my clients. I specialise in the design of accent chairs, cushions, lampshades, footstools, headboards and wall panels. These hand crafted designs create a luxurious piece of furniture which is unique.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 62 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
