  Selected Makers

Russell Akerman

I am a Studio Potter/Ceramic Designer living in the United Kingdom, my work is primarily based around wheel thrown ceramics with a special interest in studying classical styles from around the world.
I currently have work in various UK galleries, the Gladstone pottery museum in Stoke On Trent and pottery in the States, Canada and Europe.
This year I have also been featured in the UK's leading Arts & Crafts magazine 'The Craftsman' with a full page article and my work is regularly bought by a growing number of collectors from around the world.
As well as making a range of constantly evolving handthrown studio ceramics I also run with my father Echo-of-Deco, a high end ceramic design studio dedicated to creating original Art Deco Style pottery.
Also this year I have started a range of heritage based ceramics in the style of 18th-19th Century Traditional English Country Pottery/Slipware.

I always welcome enquiries for commissions from prospective buyers and have undertaken such work in the past for Stage and Screen, Corporate Business, Galleries and numerous private buyers.

Please do get in contact if you require a specific piece of work, have an enquiry for a commission, supplying your gallery etc,or if you would generally like any more information on my work.

"So long, and thanks for all the fish"

After very many years of craft&design we've decided that we'd like to retire and so in 127 days we will close the craft&design website, including craft&design Online and the craft&design Selected Makers and Craft and Design Month websites. We've had a brilliant 35 years and would like to thank all our readers, advertisers, writers, contributors and website visitors for their support throughout that time. Our very best wishes to you all for the future - Angie and Paul.
