Selected Makers

Sally Ratcliffe

work by Sally Ratcliffe

Sally studied at Canterbury Art College in Theatre Costume and design... the work included the manufacture of prop. jewellery, though more importantly was a very  experimental, inspiring and creative atmosphere.

Brought up in North Wales she has always enjoyed nature and natural form....which the designs reflect.

Sally enjoys reticulating the metal surfaces to recreate this natural effect, even if it is a little haphazard at times! Reticulation is a process where you heat the surface of the metal until it 'pools molten silver', at which point you remove the flame and the metal surface 'puckers' up to create the fine textured finish.

After this process she works wire and silver/gold balls and stone settings to finish the flowing designs.

Sally now works in a studio in the prestigious Yorkshire ArtSpace,  Persistence Works, Sheffield.
