Samantha Pickup

I am a potter living and working in Ewell, Surrey. I work from my own studio which is an old barn alongside the Hogsmill River. All work is thrown on the wheel and my chosen medium is porcelain for all its qualities of delicacy, colour and translucency.   I do two ranges, one being pure white with a textured surface and the other has a swirl of colour thrown into the body. Although I make work that is functional, I do like to focus on the more decorative, such as bowls for beautiful objects and jugs for summer flowers and so on.   My work is inspired by a traditional country style, but with a fresh, modern interpretation. I am currently a member of London Potters and Wey Ceramics Society.
