Williams British Handmade
Having recently completed a Masters in Fashion Artefact at The London College of Fashion, with a distinction and being awarded The Off-Catwalk Design Award, I am now setting up the label 'Williams British Handmade'.

The collection 'Crafted Fashion' is based on loss of craftsmanship in the fashion industry, with maybe the most important factor being Globalisation. This has produced a world market for products and a spread of multiculturalism and cultural diversity but as the western culture dominates we now risk becoming a monoculture. Traditional skills and techniques are no longer being valued as they once were and are therefore not being passed on to the next generations.

My aim was to use craft to produce a collection of Fashion Artefacts which have never been seen before and would challenge the fashion industries view on craft and how it can be used to produce something completely original. By utilising historical regional craftsmanship my hope is to increase appreciation for craftsmanship, celebrate British national heritage and illustrate the fact that there needs to be a greater appreciation of cultural diversity and preservation of our local and regional differences.

Each item is produced by hand, with all stitching completed by hand. All pieces are made to order and can be ordered by contacting me through the website.
