Sarah Kelly

Bracelet by Sarah Kelly

Sarah Kelly creates innovative, sculptured art jewellery made in paper under her company name 'Saloukee'. She began working with paper when creating mock ups for traditional silver jewellery and fashion accessories. It was at this point that she realised that she loved working with the malleable, ephemeral nature of paper, much more than the metals which she had been traditionally trained with. Many of the jewellery pieces include several hundred hand pressed rivets, intricate laser cutting and self taught paper folding techniques. Through the folding, riveting and laser cutting methods she creates 'talking point' jewellery which is showcased, collected and receives press worldwide.

Sarah has received several accolades including being awarded the prize for "Excellence in jewellery" by the British Jewellers Association,  being shortlisted from 600 applicants to be part of the European Prize for Applied Arts, Belgium and receiving Shell Livewire's 'Grand Ideas' Award for her innovations in design.

Sarah is a visiting lecturer and artist to both schools and universities specialising in textiles, product and jewellery fields. Her aim is to teach students how to use paper as a three dimensional, illustrative tool. Sarah also runs jewellery workshops for both adults and children and 2011 will see the launch of her first book titled ‘Paper Jewellery’ to be published By A and C Black Ltd, London.
