Stephanie Macdonald-Walker is a Fashion Fabrics and Accessories designer from the North West. Stephanie is the Designer /Maker of SMWalker. The label consists of unique and innovative fashion accessories which can be adorned on the body.
She describes her work as ‘wearable art’ that can be sculpted around the body to form a beautiful collar pieces or shrug. Many of her pieces have been formed from shapes within abstract architecture. Stephanie starts with transforming paper into sculpture pieces to form shapes, which can then be repeated. This then inspires her to form large scale 3 dimensional shapes which she can manipulate and adorn on the body. The techniques used within Stephanie’s collections are mostly Fabric manipulation and Digital prints.
These methods and techniques are transformed on Luxurious leathers and exquisite wools to create Avant Garde pieces for the High-end market. Stephanie has showed Collections at exhibitions such as the ‘New Designers’ exhibition were she became a Licentiate member of the ‘Society of Designer Craftsmen ‘for her unique craftsmanship when working with leather.
Stephanie also took part in the Islington contemporary Art and Design Fair were she received much good press from online Fashion and Textiles magazines and Blogs.
She will also be taking part in the rising stars 2011 exhibition at the New Ashgate gallery, Surrey in April.
Stephanie has created a collection of Hand and clutch bags which have evolved from the techniques she has designed for the collars and neck pieces. She is now working on another collection which is to be sold at the British Designers Boutique in Bath, early this year.
All of Stephanie’s products are Hand made from luxurious leathers and exquisite wools that have been lined with 100% silks.
