Designer Jewellery
"Stephanie's bold and colourful wearable art traces its origins back to her time as a sculpture student at Loughborough College of Art and Design.
Fascinated with the qualities of coloured light, reflection and refraction, she experimented with lasers and acrylics in a dark room environment. Later, following post-graduate training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Stephanie worked as a professional set designer, again responding to the strong shapes and lush palette of vivid colours available to her in this arena.
While living and working in Italy, Stephanie was overwhelmed by the fabulous costumes, colours, and the sheer exuberance of Venice at Carnival time. This experience inspired her to revisit her earlier sculptural ideas, and develop them into wearable works of art. This inspiration continues in her work today, and, as well as being stunning pieces of jewellery, she thinks of all her jewellery as 'wearable sculpture' with a shimmering, theatrical quality.
Stephanie's bold and innovative approach to working with modern acrylic materials goes hand in hand with her love of high-impact jewellery, and she has developed unique processes which combine a strong sense of form with outstanding colour awareness. She has been called a 'colour empath' by those who have been amazed by her uncanny ability to match an individual's personality and image with one of her unique pieces. Her work's capacity to entertain with its continually changing response to light and movement never ceases to delight her, and all those who love her individually designed and made jewellery".
