My "smithing" days began in a shed in East London. I then stepped up to the rather more refined environment of Crown Jewellers Aspreys, where I remained for 26 years, Crafting the : Cricket World Cup/Ryder Cup, trophies for Ascot, commissions' for Royalty, i.e. The Prince of Wales, Sultans' of Brunei and Oman, culminating in 2004 when I produced the Sultan of Oman's birthday present.
In 2003 I launched SEW Ltd. Mustering every bit of my expertise transforming Gold/Silverware imaginings of clients into reality. Then in 2005 I started a Silversmithing workshop which offers practical, hands on creative days for the complete beginner to people with some experience of the craft. The emphasis is on participants having a go and gaining an insight into basic Silversmithing techniques.
Someone once said that "art is not a form of communication but a vehicle for sharing experience between artist and viewer". My work is rich with layers of artistic expression capable of unlocking repressed or forgotten levels of memory in individuals. For this to happen requires that the individual must be willing to pause long enough not only to look, but also to feel the meaning of my work.
