Started in 1994 by Tom Luxmoore, Eye of the Heart is a firm of cabinetmakers specialising in original, custom made furniture and kitchens made almost exclusively from Suffolk grown hardwoods.

We use a number of local suppliers, from sympathetic tree surgeons to woodland managers to source an astonishing variety of English timber, which we have sawn to our specifications.  This we air-dry until it is ready to be further conditioned prior to bringing it to the bench.

Our products include tables, chairs, cabinets of all sorts, in fact any project that the wood will lend itself to.

We design with the customer’s requirements to build furniture that is sometimes likened to Arts and Crafts or the Shaker style.  The emphasis is on simplicity and function, whilst showing off the beauty of the wood to best advantage.  We like to draw to our customer’s attention the rich diversity of English wood, and to give a provenance to everything we make. The new owner of one of our pieces can be told where the tree came from that made their cabinet, what age it was, why it was felled and so on.  In this way the process of commissioning furniture becomes more personal and interesting, benefiting a small part of the local economy, and reducing unnecessary imports of foreign timber.
