Wally Gilbert is a leading silversmith and artist, whose unique work takes him into a number of different fields, from printmaking to sculpture and decorative architectural metal work, exploring ideas where they lead him.

Wally’s recent commissions include the cast aluminium parapets for a road bridge spanning the Grand Union Canal (completed November 2007) and the railings for a balcony on a private house in 2008.

He was the winner of a competition to design and make a pair of commemorative silver wine coolers for the British Jewellery and Gift ware Federation which were completed in 2008. In addition his silver work was selected as the cover piece for Collecting by Design: Silver and Metalwork of the Twentieth Century: The Margo Grant Walsh Collection (published by Yale University Press, March 2008).

In October 2008 Wally returns as an Artist in Residence on the 'Art's in Industry' program at the Kohler iron Foundry in Wisconsin, USA having completed a commission to design decorative silver fittings for an range of handbags to be made in Milan.
